WInter 2018 Membership pack
This is your membership pack. It contains information about your leader, rehearsals, our end of term show, choir socials and opportunities.
We make song resources available to all members of the term. Separate to this membership pack, you will receive by email a Dropbox link that contains recordings of your vocal parts to listen to, and lyrics you can use in your rehearsal should you choose. This means you can practice in between your sessions and get the most out of your rehearsals. You'll receive parts for each week's song before the rehearsal. Further details of how to use Dropbox will be included in the separate mail with the Dropbox link that you will receive soon after signing up for the term.
You'll also receive regular newsletters updating you on choir activities, changes and new opportunities, as well as the chance for you to 'shout about' something important to you.
If you have a question, hop on the FACEBOOK PAGE for a SV community chat, or drop us an email (details below).
This membership pack is your one stop shop to answer any questions you may have throughout the term. Should you not be able to find the information you are looking for you can ask your leaders in rehearsals, your fellow Some Voices members on our social page, and of course you can always send an email through to our admin team.
Keep checking back here for extra info as we will update this membership page throughout the term with more details on everything you need to know
SMALL BUT MIGHTY - YOUR SV TEAM
SOPHIE is a London based musician and theatre maker, and runs her own company 'on the button'. Sophie joined Some Voices two years ago and hasn't looked back! She leads two rehearsals, and loves encouraging people to be confident, brilliant singers. "I love the mix of people who come together and sing their socks off each week, and never fail to have the best time with my choirs. It’s exhilarating and moving; you can’t help but leave uplifted."
Another cracking term has whizzed by, with you lot at the helm, steering Some Voices into yet another humdinger of a success, and now I hope you are moored up, basking in your glories and looking forward to adventures anew. Ok, ok, sorry about the boat references but I have been on the good ship Hornbeam for two weeks solid and cabin fever is at an all time high... talking of which, your singing (which I watched avidly on social media, one hand on the tiller, the other madly waving my phone to try to get some reception) made me feverish with joy and pride. You all did SO incredibly well! Being one of the bigger choirs, there's a tendency to shout and be a bit take-over-ey (new word? sure) but I have never, ever once seen or heard you do this and instead you blend your voices together and really look after each other out there, for which I am very, very proud. Your confidence in yourselves and in your abilities is getting stronger with each show that we do, and you truly make a beautiful sound. I love working with you all and can't wait to crack into next term like a fish leaping into water. OK, I'll leave the dubious similes there... Much love to you Team Holborn and see you in September! Love, Captain Sophie xxxxxxxx
LAURA started Some Voices in 2010, and since CURTIS joined in 2014 they have grown Some Voices into the 800+-strong choir it is today. Together they run Some Voices, write, record & arrange the music you'll be singing, and organise our mega end of term shows!
We want to say a HUGE well done to everyone that put in so many hours making ‘Unplugged’ as magical as it was. Congratulations!
The summer show maybe over, but the good news is there’s lots to look forward to next term!

SEMI CHORUS AND SOLOS
Our semi-chorus is a smaller group of auditioned singers who learn a few extra songs for the show. This involves extra rehearsals throughout the term.
These opportunities are open to all, and will require sending in a video of you singing. This allows you to be more relaxed and brings out the best of you and your voice.
Your choir leader will announce when the audition call out opens for this term. Details on how to audition will be updated on this page. Those of you who have been in Semi Chorus already do not need to re-audition.
The Creative Team is a collective of choir members who dream big about how to make our shows as mega as possible - and then make it happen.
So far we've taken thousands of audience members on a voyage into space, to our own festival, to Christmas Movie Wonderland, to 1970s New York and on a journey into the dark and light sides of what it means to be Human.
If any of that interests you, we would love to have you! All are welcome - whether you've got creative ideas, skills you think you could lend, or are up for getting involved in some craft or set build, please get in touch:
email@example.com, Subject: 'Applying to join creative team'
We send a few newsletters per term to give you a heads up on choir activities, any changes and exciting opportunities.
If you have something to 'Shout About' and want to get it seen by your lovely SV colleagues, email us with a sentence or two about you, a paragraph on your 'shout' ,any relevant links and an image to boot.
Send to the team at firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line "I've got something to shout about!"
The newsletters contain important information that you may otherwise miss. While we try to get information out to everyone, some things are for member's eyes only so it's key you check the newsletter for member opportunities or choir changes.
Don't forget to save email@example.com to your safe sender's list in order to receive these weekly updates.
Some Voices are a sociable bunch. Post rehearsal drinks are always on the cards, but we also organise Some Voices Socials to come along to.
We've had the best of times at our socials - from our own private Capulet Ball, to a bespoke Some Voices pub quiz. This term’s social will be announced by your leader and we will update details of how to join in right here.
