New Stroud Choir launching in September

Some Voices is continuing to grow with a brand new choir launching in the beautiful town of Stroud, Gloucestershire this Autumn.

The Stroud choir will be lead by conductor and theatre maker Sophie Winter, who has been a Some Voices leader and singer since 2015. Sophie recently moved to Stroud from London and fell in love with the beautiful buzzing town and can’t wait to start up our brand new Gloucestershire choir there.

"Leading a Some Voices choir is the absolute best fun: the arrangements are awesome, and the vibe is really joyful. You can’t help but leave feeling uplifted at the end of each session. I am so excited to bring the Some Voices magic to the gorgeous community of Stroud – I think the combination will be pretty special.” Sophie Winter

Some Voices started in London in 2010 with a small group, growing to currently 12 London rehearsals and since 2020 has launched in Newcastle, Brighton, Cambridge and York. Stroud is our latest new location – watch this space for more locations to be launched soon.

Some Voices is a contemporary choir with a difference, described by The Guardian as feeling “less like a choir and more like the closest you might get to being a rock star” and by TimeOut as having a “soul warming sense of community.”

Past triumphs include singing with Keala Settle at the 2021 Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall, creating a multi-sensory carol for Great Ormond Street Hospital, performing for the 2020 Brit Awards with Mastercard, recording the soundtrack for BBC One’s 2019 Christmas advert, singing with the BBC Concert Orchestra for BBC Two’s Friday Night is Music Night and many more.

Joining Some Voices choir is easy, just sign up for a free taster session to see what it’s all about and if you love it (which we’re pretty sure you will), simply buy membership online and enjoy a whole term of singing, socialising and having lots of fun. There are no auditions, you don’t need to read music or have any experience.

If you would like to hear from us about our Stroud choir, including when our tasters and memberships for September go on sale, please join our mailing list and select Stroud.

Some Voices

SOME VOICES started small in 2010, with seven chorus members meeting up to perform original arrangements of popular classics that range from Bowie to Bjork, from Stevie Wonder to Stevie Nicks, from Folk to Hip Hop, and everything in between - all with a Some Voices twist.

Nine years down the line, more than 1500 singers are now part of the exciting ensemble that performs on some of the biggest stages in London. KOKO, The Southbank Centre, Oval Space,The Rivoli Ballroom, The Grand Clapham, HERE and The Troxy have all seen the group attract audiences in their thousands
